Coastal Vision Project

A New Vision for Coastal Resilience: Engaging Communities through Art to Design a Transformative Future

place_a2.jpg

This project addresses the critical issue of coastal communities' vulnerability to climate change impacts, including erosion, flooding and storms. Despite government investment in response strategies, short-term fixes often overshadow long-term solutions due to complex barriers.

This transdisciplinary project is led by A/Prof Natasha Pauli, in collaboration with Dr Carmen Elrick-Barr, A/Prof Abbie Rogers, Dr Michael Cuttler, Dr Arnold Van Rooijen, Mr Daniel Jan Martin and Ms Rosie Halsmith.

CAN CREATIVE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT METHODS INFORM INCLUSIVE & ACCEPTED DESIGNS FOR RESILIENT FUTURE COASTS?

The project's innovative approach seeks to empower coastal communities in Western Australia by facilitating interdisciplinary workshops that combine social science, landscape architecture and visual arts. These collaborative efforts aim to inspire and enable communities to envision and create a resilient future aligned with sustainable development goals.
